When Mt. Omuro erupted, a large amount of lava flowed out, reaching the sea and creating a new land. In particular, the Maekado coast is the best place to observe lava. The course is full of excellent learning materials and is ideal for children's nature education and free research during summer vacation. On a clear day, you can overlook Izu Oshima and the Sagami Sea from the top of the Kadowaki Suspension Bridge.

"Bora Barn" Parking Lot
In the Edo period, the mullet barn was used as a base for mullet fishing. Currently, it is used as a restaurant where you can eat fresh fish dishes from the Izu Peninsula. Parking is available for an additional fee. (It will be free if you eat at the restaurant.)

Maekado Coast (lava observation)
The coast, which has been called "Maekado" by local fishermen, is the place where lava flowing from Mt. Omuro reached the sea. You can see how the lava that flowed down with a rustle has solidified there.

Jogasaki Coast Promenade (Picnical Course)
It is a promenade for strolling along the Jogasaki coast starting from Bora Barn. Just walk while observing the special vegetation on the lava. Off the coast, you can overlook Izu Oshima, and if the weather is good, you can see as far as Toshima, Niijima, and Kozushima.

Kadowaki Suspension Bridge
The most representative scenery of the Jogasaki Coast is the Kadowaki Suspension Bridge. From the top of the bridge, you can see Tsubakuro (Swifts) Island, and if you visit from the end of May to June, you can see countless swifts flying at high speed, as the name suggests.

Cape Kadowaki
Looking back towards the suspension bridge, there is a cliff formed by the waves’ erosion of the lava. You can see a cross-section of the lava flow there.
